The YPG Press Office has released a statement on the 40th day of the attacks of ISIS gangs on Kobanê.

“Losing their hopes for victory in the face of strong resistance, the ISIS gangs bombed areas where civilians are located, leaving one civilian dead”, said the YPG Press Office, which reported that fierce clashes took place yesterday on the eastern front where clashes have intensified recently.

YPG said the YPG, YPJ and the Burkan Al Firat forces have inflicted heavy blows on the gangs in the clashes that lasted until early morning today. “As far as ascertained, 24 gang members were killed on this front,” added the YPG.

“Intense clashes took place around Municipality Street at the eastern edge of the town. 4 gang members were ascertained to be dead in this area. Our forces seized 2 Kalaskinovs and a large amount of ammunition for these weapons” said the YPG Press Office, adding that YPG, YPJ and Burkan Al Firat forces launched operations on the Helinc-Korpinkar and Helinc-Şêran neighbourhoods in the south-eastern areas of the town.

2 vehicles on the Helinc-Korpinkar road and one another on the Helinc-Şêran road were destroyed while 11 gang members were killed as far as ascertained, said the YPG and continued as follows: “At the southern front as well intense clashes continued the whole night. The number of the casualties has not been ascertained. Our forces carried out an operation around the Seyran Restaurant in the southern part of the town, leaving 2 gang members dead and a motorcycle destroyed. 1 Kanas weapon and 1 Kalasnikov belonging to the gangs were seized”.

The YPG Press Office further reported that the gangs were repulsed by having been shot as they attempted to infiltrate the western front, adding that the number of the casualties at this front still remains uncertain.

KCK: AKP's Rojava policy has collapsed

KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council Co-Presidency has released a statement assessing the recent developments in line with the historic Kobanê resistance going on for 40 days now.
The Kurdistan Communities Union stressed that the Kobanê resistance has boosted the morale and strength of all peoples struggling for democracy and freedom worldwide.
Putting emphasis on the importance of the South Kurdistan government's decision to send peshmerga to Kobanê, KCK underlined that a joint struggle to be waged on this basis would serve the realisation of the Kurdish National Unity and National Congress.
KCK said the counter policies and reaction of the AKP government in face of the developments in Kobanê exhibited its attitude towards the Kurds, noting that this was because the AKP government has yet to abandon its unfavorable policies against the Rojava Revolution and the Kobanê resistance.
The KCK statement continued; "All the effort being made by the AKP aims to eliminate the democratic will and status revealed by the Kurds and other peoples and cultures in Rojava. The libertarian and democratic character of the Rojava Revolution exposes the AKP policies insisting on a deadlock and its anti-Kurd consideration. The AKP government is endeavouring to enable the emergence of a consequence against the PKK and PYD in order to hinder the outcomes the Kobanê resistance will lead up to. It is trying to associate others in its opposition to the PKK and PYD."
The statement also emphasised that with these policies the AKP followed a policy hostile not only to the democratic will of the Kurdish people but also to the Arab, Syriac, Yezidi, Armenian and Turkmen peoples that also take part in the Rojava Revolution and see it as hope for a democratic Syria.
Pointing out that the AKP government's Middle East and Rojava policy has collapsed and strains in face of the Kurdish people's resistance and the international politics, the KCK Executive Council Co-Presidency noted that despite this truth the AKP hasn't undergone a change in its policies nor adopted a new one embracing brotherhood with all peoples and belief groups.
"The support AKP provides to ISIS, its Kobanê policy, Erdoğan's remarks claiming that 'Kobanê is about to fall' and identifying the PKK with the ISIS, and labeling the PYD as a terrorist organisation have led up to a burst of anger among our people and all democratic powers. It is especially the AKP's insistence on supporting the ISIS and desire for the defeat of the Kobanê resistance that reveals the fact that it has not brought about a change in its attitude towards the resolution of the Kurdish question", the KCK underlined.
The KCK statement also remarked that this attitude of the AKP will not only create significant problems for the peoples but also play a role in finishing the AKP government itself in a deadlock.
KCK Council emphasised that the most recent wave of detentions and arrests were being carried out with the mindset born in political KCK arrests across North Kurdistan and Turkey in 2011 and 2012. KCK said the purpose of these operations was to maintain the cultural genocide exploitation aiming to break the will of the Kurdish people and to hinder a resolution of the Kurdish question by means of palliative steps. The KCK said the Kurdish people would naturally exercise their basic right to self-defence against these operations of political genocide the aim of which is to maintain the deadlock in the Kurdish matter.
According to KCK, these arrests which come during the ongoing İmralı talks also manifest an unserious attitude towards the resolution process. KCK said the Kurdish people will assuredly not remain silent in face of the present mindset and practices and enhance the struggle, considering each arrest as a reason for resistance as part of the struggle for democratization and for the resolution of the Kurdish issue.
Stressing that the AKP government kept the conflict environment alive by continuing the KCK operations under a different cover now, the KCK added that it is not only the Kurdish people but all democracy powers that should give a struggle against this attitude, counteract the anti-democratic policies of the AKP and pave the way for Turkey's democratization and a democratic political solution of the Kurdish question.
