ANF - KOBANÊ 06.10.2014 19:44:44
Urban warfare has started in Kobanê where the resistance by YPG/YPJ forces has left 21 days behind today.
Thousands of civilians in the besieged town are under the threat of massacre by inhuman ISIS gangs that have been intensely attacking the town since 15 September.
According to the reports by correspondents on the ground, clashes have become fiercer on the eastern front as ISIS gangs continue to attack with heavy weaponry they dispatched from Iraq and Syria.
In the meantime, thousands of people joining the vigil in the Suruç district of Urfa have started to head towards the village of Etmanek where ISIS gangs are launching attacks on Kobanê from the border after it was forcibly evacuated by Turkish troops and police forces in the last two days. Security forces forbid entrance to the area today.
Thousands of people from the villages of Alizer, Qop, Bethê, Dewşen, Boyde and Swêdê are on the way to the Etmanek village. Announcements are being made in Suruç calling on people to march to the Kobanê border.
A large number of civilians from Kobanê are in the meantime crossing into Suruç after the beginning of the urban battle in the town.
HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) has called on people to urgently take to the streets in protest against the ISIS attacks and AKP government's attitude against Kobanê, warning that the situation in Kobanê was quite critical.

Urban warfare between ISIS gangs and YPG/YPJ forces has started in the Kobanê town of West Kurdistan following fierce clashes late in the evening when gangs started to launch intensified attacks, mainly from the Turkish border side.
Issuing an urgent appeal after the most recent developments, the Kobanê Government stressed that civilians in the town were under threat, and urged immediate action by the international community to prevent a probable massacre of the people in the besieged town.
The Kobanê Government recalled that the Kobanê town is facing brutal attacks by ISIS gangs as thousands of members of the organisation coming from various countries across the world are attacking the town centre with heavy weaponry.
The statement continued; “The Kobanê resistance has manifested that the people and fighters of Kobanê are not going to leave the town. Despite all the calls issued by our government to the world public and international powers, we are yet to be answered.”
The Kobanê Government called on all international powers, Kurdistani powers and the people of Kurdistan to intervene the gangs and not to allow them to commit massacre against thousands of civilians.
The government warned that the international community will be held responsible if a massacre takes place in Kobanê.

Öcalan: We will resist to the end

Abdullah Öcalan's brother Mehmet Öcalan has conveyed messages from İmralı where he paid a visit to Kurdish people's leader on Monday.
Hasan Alpan, brother of Hakkın Alpan who is also jailed in İmralı F Type High Security Prison, also went to the island together with Öcalan's brother today.
Asked about Öcalan's comments about Kobanê, Mehmet Öcalan conveyed the following message of the Kurdish leader after returning from the island; "Our people in Kobanê are going to resist to the end. Resistance will be manifested everywhere and every single Kurdish-populated area where ISIS is present. No concessions will ever be made to ISIS which is an artificial organisation and will also cause trouble to the states, governments and persones supporting it. Which country ever is supporting ISIS will itself be inflicted a damage. We will resist the ISIS to the end. Our people has to resist."
Asked about the resolution process, Mehmet Öcalan quoted the PKK (Kurdistan Worker's Party) as saying that; "This kind of issues cannot end up a resolution through delaying tactics. The state must take the actions required by the laws it itself has enacted. They are talking about a resolution process but we have not received any visit from our lawyers for years now. Can a resolution process make any progress in this way?"
The Kurdish leader -his brother said- also stressed that; "We can await a resolution till 15 September, after which we can have nothing to do. They are talking about resolution and negotiation but there exists no such a thing. This is an artificial situation we will not be able to continue anymore."
Mehmet Öcalan noted that the Kurdish leader will not join the funeral ceremony of his sister who has passed away today.

Turkish soldiers leave the border crossing area

A large part of the Turkish troops deployed at the Mürşitpınar border crossing between Suruç and Kobanê have withdrawn from the border region where only tanks, howitzer and mortar weapons and armored vehicles have been left.
In the last two days, Turkish soldiers have deployed heavy weapons at Suruç-Kobanê border while also forcibly evacuating the border villages of Etmanek and Dewşen next to Kobanê and forbidding entrance into the area.
It grabs attention that soldiers left the border crossing and region after ISIS gangs have launched attacks on Kobanê from an area near the Etmanek village, on Suruç side of the border, in the evening.
